hi there, i was wondering if there's anyone who resitted year 12 or year 13 who can give me some advice in telling my family that i want to retake (year 12). this year has been a complete mess due to family, mental health problems and i didn't work to my best ability due to this. i'm currently left with 3 AS' and one of them i do not want to continue at all next year. that means i'll end up with 2 AS' and i don't want that at all. i know that if i'll retake i'll work much more harder than this year. i feel like i'm just making it more worse for my family. any advice? thank you

I don't have any experience with that myself i'm afraid, but here's a little bit of general advice.

Write down what you want to say to them as practice or even give that to them. Talk to your college about it and ask them for some advice (they have students doing this every year so they will have experience with it). Mix it with something positive to break the tension a little (maybe a nice snack or a card or something). If you are worried about them freaking out make it at a time you have an excuse to leave and give them time to process it (I jused to give difficult news on the drive to school so they would have te day to process before I saw thhem again).

It's a good choice to make if you had a rouggh time this year and think you could do better with another go. Talk to your family about it and you may be supprised how supportive they are after some processing the idea. Your college will probably be able to give some advice about making it easier on all of you.

    Good luck
