    g = gas.

    Water in the atm is water vapor which is a gas.

    ya but this question confused me - it says water in the atmosphere so its water vapor, why did it put the chemical symbol as (l) for water

    This is for acid rain so they will be water droplets in clouds i.e. liquid

    how does this relate to it?? its just mentioning the characteristics of SO2 - nthn to do with H2O 's state symbol

    It's implicit in the question that water is in the liquid state, thus it becomes acid rain which is an aqueous solution
