Wonky Exam Desks!!!!!!

AHHHH, just got back from my English Language paper 1 exam and my desk was sooooo bad it was unbelievable. It kept rocking from side to side and i swear it was annoyin other people around me, I could hear other people having the same problem. I should think it affects you're perfomance if you have to be constantly balancing it. has anyone else had the same problem?

I always ask for a piece of paper and fold it up to put under one of the legs

Yeah, the invigilators at our school tend to check to see if anyone has a wobbly desk before hand and put some paper under it or something.

Not wonky desks thankfully, but i'm in a sports hall and to protect the floor there is a plastic cover. This sometimes 'cuffs' up and teachers tripp up and fall over, the amount that fall over and you have to keep a straight face

I had one for my Politics mock AS, and it was so distracting! :hmmm:

yeah i hate wobbly desks!

the worse is that some of our desks have a bar underneath to rest your foot on and in the maths exam i whacked my shin off it

gosh it was painful.

In my maths exam, we do our exams in the gym hall and all the bars and equipment are against the wall. because im first in the register i was right against the wall. i dropped my pencil in the middle of the exam, put my hand up, asked to pick it up, bent down to get it and when i swiftly lifted my head up.. WHACK right onto a huge mental pole, the sound echoed through the hole hall. and i was so stunned i just sat there. and then i burst into tears. i was in so much pain. the invigilators came running over to me to ask if i was ok, and my maths paper was wet with tears, and i was like..."yeh..im fine! :s-smilie: " lol!

but no, never had a wonky table. just thought id tell u that little story.

I'm lucky, our teachers have a big supply of wedges (the kind that you use to keep doors open), and they hand them out before the exam if you need one.

What's really annoying is when you have 2 exams (or more!) in one hall, and the other exam finishes: everyone insists upon sliding their chair across the floor, and we're in a sports hall, so this echoes and makes an awful racket. Grr!

i get wonky tables all the time  the invigilators give out paper though

Reply 12

the invigilators have a whole bag full of wooden wedges lol.
So it's not a problem.

Reply 13

the invigilators have cardboard boxes and they keep cutting them up haha

I got one when i was in maths, it was annoying when i tried to the graph it wobbled it's a real pain. i think i'm going to use the paper idea:smile:

What have other people been predicted

Reply 15

Because I am near the end of the alphabet I get to sit at the end of the hall with the new desks that are wooden and absolutely huge. The people at the other end have these tinsy tiny little things with metal legs that get bent and wobble.

We have 3 exam rooms at our school - gym, junior common room and conference room. In the latter two the desks are all fine, but in the gym I have had a wobbly desk every time, and they're supposed to be brand new too! It's really annoying.

Also, because I was writing loads in English, and because the desks are on plastic (to protect the floor), my desk kept moving forwards, and the invigilator had to come over to tell me to move my desk back!

Yup
I asked for help, for some papaer to balance it or something,
But the examiner used his authority to tell me
"No the exam has begun"

Wonky desks are almost as bad as people that sit there and click their pens throughout the exam. :/
