I need a minimum of C to get into my choosen uni. I got 81 percent/UMS in my AS levels and I need a minimum of 39 in my A levels to get a C. My A level math module consists of Mechanics and Pure Math 3.

I believe I at least got 75 percent/UMS or above in my mechanics paper, but I'm fairly sure that I got a U (below E grade) in my pure math paper.
Does this mean I'll get 0 UMS from that component? Or will whatever raw marks I scored get converted to at least some UMS points. I need only 9 points to get a C

Tl;dr - Does getting a U in a specific paper (not the whole subject) mean you get 0 UMS points? Or do you get at least some points which add up with your other components in the subject.

My board is CIE, so I'm not sure if it's any different.

Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

You will get marks for what you got right. They will not give you 0 just because you didn't score enough for an indicative grade.

But doesn't U mean ungraded? Doesn't it mean that the marks as well don't get counted?

The marks you received (raw) will still be converted into ums marks. For example, 22 raw marks in a biology unit 1 paper would get you 33 ums (a U grade)
