    Hi I was wondering if anyone knew how student overdraft works for Halifax? Also is it worth going a placement year

    It isn't automatic. It has to be neotiated and approved in advance. You can get up to £3000 (although you may not get that much) interest-free whilst you're a student and for a year after you graduate. If you go overdrawn without agreeing it in advance, you'll pay interest and a monthly fee. The terms & conditions seem to be petty harsh compared to some - I'm sure you can find student accounts with automatic guaranteed overdrafts if you shop around.

    Also is it worth going a placement year
    Difficult to say without knowing your personal cirumstances and your field. But generally, any kind of work experience and work-related references will put you ahead of graduate applicants without. Might be best asking a separate question in the University Life section.
