...according to his rival, Ted Cruz (you know, the evangelical version of Trump who for some reason is deemed to be a more acceptable candidate than Trump)

Sen. Ted Cruz slammed his rival Donald Trump over Trump’s comments on the bathroom law in North Carolina. Trump said he opposed the law that requires transgendered people to use the restrooms accorded to their biological sex, and he said that things should be just left the way they are.

    (Original post by Ted Cruz)
Yesterday morning on the Today Show, Donald Trump agreed with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama that grown men should be allowed to use little girls’ restrooms. This is political correctness on steroids... As a father of two young daughters, I can say unequivocally that’s a terrible idea... The fact that Donald Trump is willing to join the PC police... illustrates that Donald meant it when he told us a couple of months he could be the most politically correct person on earth.

...Donald came out in support of raising taxes... Donald’s campaign team was down in Florida... telling them that everything Donald has been saying on the campaign trail was simply a show. It’s all for appearances. He doesn’t mean any of it. He’s not going to build a wall. He’s not going to deport anyone. That’s just what he’s saying to try to fool the voters.... Donald himself told the New York Times editorial board in January that he doesn’t believe what he says on immigration, that he’s not going to build a wall and he’s not going to deport anyone.

...Donald’s entire campaign has been taken over by career Washington lobbyists... Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are flip sides of the same coin. ...Donald Trump is the system, and his lobbyist campaign team is now saying very explicitly that Donald has been lying to us. I believe that Republicans want a candidate who actually knows what he believes, who’s not going to wake up tomorrow and embrace the liberal New York Democratic values that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have imposed on this country the last seven years.

...What Donald believes are the liberal Manhattan Democratic values... It is why Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both support taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood. It is why Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both support the individual mandate in Obamacare

Trump is and always has been a New York liberal. That’s why he supported partial birth abortion for most of his life. That’s why today he supports taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood just like Hillary Clinton. It’s why in the last 48 hours he came out for abandoning the pro-life planks of the Republican Party. It is why he is advocating for allowing grown men into the bathroom with little girls just like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. It is why he supports the individual mandate in Obamacare just like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. It is why he is advocating raising taxes just like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama... Those are his values.

Not surprising. Now begins his pivot to the centre to appeal for the presidency.

But why has the media completely ignored Ted Cruz, who is much more right wing than Trump in every way imaginable?

Because he has the support of the party/establishment. US media has tried its best to portray Trump as a nutcase, whilst on the other side trying to bring down Sanders too. Clinton/Cruz are the run of the mill candidates whereas Sanders/Trump are appealing to the disillusioned tired of the same old same old.

I don't disagree with you however. Cruz is much more dangerous than Trump.

I guessed there was a decent chance Trump would eventually 'pivot to the center' as MrDystopia said. I was starting to doubt myself with some of his adviser appointments and the mishaps at the rallies, but it seems that guess has ultimately borne out. And despite his extreme comments on specific issues, this isn't the first time he's shown a hint of being more centered than his opponents. Take his stance on Israel for instance; he was the only member of one of the early debates who advocated a more neutral position in favor of compromise.

I agree with Trump, and I think it's good that he actually thinks about things for himself, rather than being a fully-paid up Republic right out of the cookie cutter. I still think he's a chump, but I respect him for that.

Compared to Cruz, he's a saint. Really, Trump is quite libertarian in many ways. I'd definitely vote for Trump over the other Republican candidates, and I'd find it difficult to choose between him or Hillary. Bernie would get my vote though.

Trumps actions are not republican. They say he will unite both parties. He will. He'll be tough on immigration but allow gays and abortions. Cruz is a "proper" republican. Why doesnt he get any stick from the media?. The only ones who do bash him are those who are "in the loop".
This is coming from a Republican. (If i was in the US)

Because Donald Trump spews hatred, Ted Cruz is just your typical Republican candidate.

Right... then why is Ted Cruz attacking Trump for being too Politically Correct? Might that say something about who is more extreme...?

Trump, despite his populist rhetoric, is probably the most socially centre Republican presidential candidate for decades.

I was answering your question about the media coverage, not about "political corectness". It's been said by many, including Ted Cruz, that Trump is just using hatred to try and get his point across. Hatred of muslims, hatred of Mexians, primarily. All his leadership would do is take America back as a nation (and break the 1st amendment cough cough).

As for the issue on "political correctness", it might be because Ted Cruz wants to throw everything in at Donald Trump to make Trump seem like a worse candidate and suggesting "political correctness" as it may not appeal to the Republican voters. I'm not trying to suggest that Ted Cruz's policies are better than Trumps, the bulk are more or less the same, but what Trump does is incite the hatred in people towards muslims, blacks etc.
