Sixth Form Prom-What to wear?

Hey got a prom coming up but i cant decide what to wear, for lasses i feel its esay but there are a few options for guys and i cant decide what to go for.

Firstly there is a suit and tie but i reckon you always look a bit like your just wearing a business suit, which isnt what i want.

Secondly a black shirt with a light tie, but this always looks awful so im not liking that either

This leaves me with the impression that all im left with is a Tux and i dunno if im wanting a normal tux cos it could look either too formal or jst not exciting enough as everyone else will probs be wearing a tux, im finkin maybe wearing a waist coat with it to add a bit of individuality but im not sure if that works or not.

Anyway if anyone has any ideas or has seen anyone lookin gd at a formal im open to ideas, cheers

Personally I would go for white linen suit with a black YSL shirt, open necked, and black patents.

You could wear a black shirt and trousers and wear some white braces, a tie and a hat? You could get a nice waist coat?
Not a white suit. It just looks tacky IMHO. I think most guys look great in a black shirt/trousers and a bright, one-colour tie (doesn't have to be light!) Or a dark suit with a bright-coloured shirt, depending on your colouring. What do you look like?

please please please do not get a white suit, personally, i think these are hideous!!!!! well.... what style do you usually go for in clothes? i personally think that guys look gawjess in a plain black suit with a nice shirt, whatever suit you get i think it'll be nice, maybe you could post a picture of you, so we could see what might suit u! and.... are you aiming to wear something 'different' or just want to look extra nice?! x

ooooh yer, i like that sort of thing! you might have to get things from different shops though, coz they dont all match do they. I think waistcoats look nice on some people and not on others, so gotta get the balance right. tried topshop for the cheaper ones and i used to work at ted baker, they do amazing suits, but expensive!!! xx

Aye i was originally thinkin of hireing a suit so i think ill pop down the tailors n see if i can get suit jacket and shirt and who knows see if they have a waistcoat i alreay have sum trousers very similar to that.

Still got a Ted Baker discount?

We wore Tux and bow tie or in a few cases people had waistcoat and cravat.

Most boys i have spoke to in my sixth form are just wearing a normal suit.

I like the idea of a black shirt, so you would look a bit different. Of infact any nice colour/patterned shirt might look nice.

i think.. that you should wear a normal black suit and like a kind of cream coloured shirt and a Gold tie with a pattern on it.. the suit and skirt wud be plain but the tie would make you look SPECIAL. beacase its gold. and get some nice cufflinks too!

Deffo go with a waistcoat, it'll make your tux look way more interesting. Nearly all the guys at our ball didn't bother with a cummerbund or waistcoat so they didn't look terribly exciting! For individuality, I'd say black tux, black shirt, white/cream waistcoat and white/cream bow tie. Very nice! Cravat could be cool too.
