I'm on 5mg of aripiprazole already because my psych thought it would help control my weight. Pfft.

Anyway i'm on a community treatment order so I hope that doesn't mean they can put me back in hospital just for stopping my meds =/
I really hate that I've got to this point. I've got little to no support at all and now i feel myself going down hill again. I'm full time at work now, can't book a doctors appointment because I'm scheduled to work pretty much every time i can see the doctor that i can see. I don't know what to do, i want to go but its hard enough getting a appointment. I need to go for two things as well and i know its going to be frowned upon if i do both at once, its only a 10 minute slot but honestly i can't do a double slot, its hard enough getting a normal slot.

Advise guys? Should i see how i get on over the next couple weeks? Should i bite the bullet and finally attempt to explain things and see if i can actually get help instead of sitting in silence?
Cinnie, have you thought about asking to try a typical antipsychotic?

Just had a math test. I took klonopin beforehand as well as a semi-energy drink but the voices were so loud and I couldn't concentrate at all. I'll be amazed if I got 50%. (need at least a C (70%) in this class to allow me into the next tier of classes. :frown: )

Actually a CTO means they can. I would really think about complying with what they offer you and tell them that you've stopped the clozapine. It really is the best thing for you in the long run, even if it doesn't seem like it now.

If they do a levels count on your blood and find you've not been taking clozapine and you haven't told them you will be sent right back to hospital and almost definitely made to re-take it again.*

Does typical mean the older ones?

I've tried haloperidol but it was awful. Actually it was worse than clozapine. I couldn't stop moving my legs.

Yes it does. I had a lot of luck with stelazine in the past - blurred vision to start with but no weight gain.

And yeah, some people really do react badly to haldol. I'm on 40mg a day with only dry mouth as an uncontrolled side effect (though I do take benztropine to stop others). Again, no weight gain and was working great for me until recently.

Might be worth you looking into trying something other than haloperidol. It's very high potency but there are others which are low potency such as chlorpromazine which might work better for you.
Has anyone here been on trazodone?
Ugh it's such a mess :frown: I just want to finish my degree and make everyone leave me alone :frown:

I took it many, many years ago for depression. From what I recall, it didn't work for me - I can't expand on side effects, sorry. However, when I was in hospital in July they used it as their "go-to" insomnia drug, Most people there were taking it for sleep. (they didn't give me my quetiapine 1000mg and expected me to sleep without it. I ended up taking 3 trazodone pills and still lying there awake :colonhash:)

So yes, expect it to help with sleep if that's a problem for you.

Hope it helps.

Sometimes you just have to discuss more than one thing in a 10 minute slot, and they usually understand that. I've had to do it a number of times. I say get yourself an appointment for when you can, and see if you can get some help. If you leave it until you really feel that you need help, then you'll still have to wait until you can get an appointment and that can be really difficult

I can't even stomach more than 25mg Q and you were on 1000mg? I must be super hypersensitive then :/

Thank you anyway. Yeah, it's to help with sleep and hopefully mood.
Has anyone been on amitriptyline? My doctor wants to put me on it for pain management, but I'm on citalopram already so I can only take a tiny amount. I was considering asking if I can come off the citalopram and just move over to a normal dose of amitriptyline so there won't be as much trouble with them reacting, and if they take me off the citalopram in the future I don't want to have to mess with it all then because I get really confused when it comes to taking tablets anyway. I'd rather just be on the one if possible, but I'm quite sensitive to medication and end up with loads of side-effects as well

I guess im just going to have to taper it up myself and take it until i'm off my CTO

I take 50mg amitriptyline daily for New Daily Persistent Headaches and it has helped me a lot.

My drug book says to look out for hyponatremia if you take both and that the combo can lead to higher TCA levels and hence higher chance of side effects. The dose for depression is higher than the dose for pain. I'd have a word with your pain doc as well as your psychiatrist and see what they think - sometimes they don't like stepping on each other's toes and they're best qualified to advise you.

And btw, I also get really confused with taking tablets, so I got a weekly pill box - that way I only have to fill it once a week and don't miss anything. Makes me feel like a right old fogey but yeah very helpful indeed

Haha I don't even have a pain doc or a psychiatrist. The latter was offered, but I see so many specialists and consultants at the moment that any time any treatment needs to happen everything grinds to a halt while everyone ums and ahs about it for months. It actually took about 8 months just to get the okay for the amitriptyline which was annoying. My GP is the one that deals with all of that, and I have an immunologist that's in with the pain as well but he's agreed to the amitriptyline suggested by the GP for pain. I think I am going to bring up using amitriptyline as an antidepressant and see if it would be possible, just because I have to take the citalopram in the morning and it makes me drowsy which is about the last thing I need with chronic fatigue syndrome

I have one too! I've never ever seen anyone around my age with one - finally! I do forget to actually fill it a lot, but I've started leaving one at college so if I forget to take anything in the morning, I can have someone double check at home and then just take it at college

Gotta tell you though, if the amitriptyline works for the pain it's gonna be so nice being able to actually walk and stand without feeling like I'm gonna pass out :woo:

I have, yes. I couldn't stay awake on it. You have to take it at night. Whilst having a decent night's sleep is wonderful, almos falling asleep in front a friend, not so much so.

Haha damnit! I was really hoping I'd just get a decent nights sleep and the drowsy part would be about over. Typical!

It was a right pain. It says to take before bed, so I did that. Woke up a bit groggy as expected and wanted to fall asleep at 8pm!

Came off it in the end. Didn't get much out of it in terms of pain relief and the tiredness was just annoying.

I'll have to give it a go, but I won't be having high expectations then! I'm not sure how long I'd be able to put up with even more tiredness in the day before going back and telling them to try dealing with it  At least once I've tried it, I can say I have and we can move on to the next thing

Good luck! I waited a few months. I was hoping it would get better; but no it didn't.
