    Hey i can someone give me a push in the rigt direction for 2a .. I know A=2 but cant seem to get it in the form rewuired to get B. Is comparing coefficients the only way to do it in this question?

    16x - 4x = 12x \neq 10x.

    So you now have:

    \displaystyle

\begin{equation*}\frac{4x^3 - 2x^2 + 16x - 3}{2x^2 - x + 2} = 2x + \frac{12x-3}{2x^2 -x + 2}\end{equation*}

    So...?

    Take away the (4x^3 - 2x^2 + 4x) away from the original top line, then divide the result by (4x-1)

    The part at the bottom of the long division is the remainder, the part that doesn't divide so you leave it as 10x+3/denominator, the part at the top is divisble by the denominator and thus isn't part of the fraction. If that makes sense.

    It's not 10x + 3.
