Hey,

I need some advice about GCSE english revision. I've taken it twice now, and got a D each time. I'm sitting it again in June, and need help on revising for it. My teacher has given us links to websites that aren't very helpful, and was wondering what the best way to revise for the exam is. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

For poetry,
Make a grid and include all the poems that you're studying. Then on the top write down context (Who wrote the book?), Content (What is it about?), Theme (Words that are related to the main themes in the poem) Imagery (Significant words or phrases that you can write about) and structure and form (Comment on the structure and title)

For studying a book,
Read the summary of the book online, revise the different characters and themes.

For studying a play,
Read the summary of the play online, revise the main characters and themes (So basically the same as revising a novel)

For the English language exam,
Just revise the different punctuations and writing techniques. Practice writing stories or read a newspaper and talk about what writing techniques have been used and why.
