Same as Paper 1 to be honest.

First section 1 hour, second section 45 minutes.... either way the poems are going to be the 45 minute exam... I'll be doing the poems one first, since I'd much rather get the more "thought" intensive section out of the way, when my handwriting and brain is in it's best shape :P.

Reply 6

Im really worried now.... I havent studied the poems enough!

What are the best poems to do (cluster 2)

Reply 7

You split it 45 minutes each way.

Past paper for example: http://www.aqa.org.uk/qual/gcse/qp-ms/AQA-3702H2-W-QP-NOV04.PDF (AQA A)

No one will know the grade boundaries for this year as they have been processed, however past years may be mentioned in other topics if you use he search feature.

Edit: Tehgiggles, I personally prefer cluster 2 but there seems to be a lot of material on Cluster 1 on the internet.

Mr-Bean
Thanks for the response but it can't be 1 hour for one, and 45 minutes for the other as it is only a 1 Hour, 30 mins exam.

Also, anyone got the grade boundaries for BOTH tiers:
Higher & Foundation?

Oh yeah sorry my mistake.

It's 45 minutes for each section, just checked.

First section is poem, second section is explain/inform/describe.

(Do describe, be a man!)

^ We only studied cluster 2, so.. :p:

Yeah teachers decide to do either Cluster 1 or Cluster 2 or both, (whoever does both will find it a bit more difficult).

The first question will be for Cluster 1, and the second question will be for Cluster 2.

There's no choice in between clusters, there will be only 1 question per cluster. I advise you to check the past papers and see which poems haven't come up yet; since Limbo/Island Man are the only ones not to come up for the past 6 June/November exams - I'm obviously revising them the most.

OK thanks.

When writing to describe, do you write in first person or third person?!

Reply 13

First person, as it "draws" in the reader... also making it seem more genuine. Present tense also. Use a lot of weird techniques; put some fragments (The mountain prevailed through the sun's intensity. Truly beautiful.) and some anthropomorphism (basically personification), some onomatopoeia - Describe is there just to let you use every kind of writing technique you have - along with a wide range of vocabulary!

Predicted Question: Cluster 1 --- Island Man
Cluster 2 ------ Love After Love

Predicted Writing Q's

1) There Is a Wide Pressure on young people nowadays
explain wt u take to be the main pressures and how they affect you and people that you know

2) A room can say a great deal about the person who owns it
describe a room that you think does this and explain your choices

3) Describe a frightening confrontation or incident that you either witnessed or were involved in and explain how you felt afterwards

Well if the question was 'describe an important place to you', how would you start it off?

Well I'm no expert but personally I'd start of ambiguously whilst describing the scene - not being specific as to where or what it is.

Reply 18

Yeah but.. like.. wouldnt it sound better to say for example: "It was dark." instead of "It is dark"?

its too hard to explain
