    Really badly stuck on question 8 http://www.ocr.org.uk/Images/65869-q...d-elements.pdf - especially finding the second ionic equation. :/

    Can anybody guide me to the solution?

    "Excess aqueous sodium carbonate is added to neutralise any acid. The mixture effervesces and a precipitate forms."

    The solution is copper(II) nitrate.

    So you are adding carbonate ions to copper ions to get a precipitate of copper(II) carbonate
