This perfectly captures the sheer ignorance, short-sightedness and disgusting stupidity of the kippers and the outers. The whole planet is on the verge of environmental catastrophe - that much is undeniable at this point, and anyone that tries is truly delusional - and these morons are upset that attempts to avert that cost some jobs.

These people would rather destroy ecosystems, climate systems and the entire biosphere for future generations, than make small economic compromises. Disgusting. We need the EU to protect us from this stupidity, because it's getting dangerous at this point.

He's not incorrect though with the basic premise that these green laws are costing jobs and money.

Instead of using very expensive renewable's we could be focusing more Nuclear and hydropower instead, which is far cheaper than any reliable renewable energy option we currently have.

Basically instead of funding incentives for the building of hydropower (damages local environment) and Nuclear, they provide deterrent for coal and gas, which is all great and all, but when most of our power comes from those sources we end up with rising energy bills.

How short sighted do you have to be to think that, maybe, a couple of thousand jobs are more important than the future of this planet as a place where human beings can live.

This is typical of politics in general now, not just UKIP/Outers.

Just because you don't agree with him does not make it any less true.

Of course green energy will cost money, that is the price we have to pay to save the planet though.

    One other related issue.

I think it's funny that pretty much every UK election result in the last two yearsa has been contested by Farage by being rigged. Yet, seemingly there is no problem with the allegedly undemocratic EU system in which he has been elected as an MEP.

I never said it wasn't true. Just that it's a ludicrous argument. Farage and his band of simpletons would destroy the planet for their "sovereignty". It's pathetic.

He may well be wrong. This is not the same situation but this case demonstrates clearly that "green taxes = bad for the economy" is absolutely not necessarily the case.

We certainly should be investing heavily in nuclear energy but we should be investing in renewables too.

Yeah nuclear fission is probably needed until we get something like Fusion.

Are you even old enough to vote?

He's obviously right that the green regulations cost jobs. That leaves open the question whether we should have them anyway, but, in answering that, one has to look at where the jobs are going. If all we're doing is shifting manufacturing to somewhere with weaker green protections we're not achieving anything. This is the point which Nigel makes.

If you have data on the point I'd be happy to see it, but you don't have data. All you have is bile.

He's not wrong on the cost of jobs, just the cost/benefit analysis of whether a couple of thousand jobs are more important than the future of the planet, which should be more worrying.

Going to say something radical here so,
watch out. JOBS AREN'T THAT IMPORTANT.

In the grand scheme of things, it makes more sense to sacrifice short-term gains for long-term sustainability of the global environment. If we burn out the environment without green regulation, there won't be any jobs in the long term.

And just WTF is that supposed to be? I can't tell if this is some form of satire or if it's supposed to be serious.

That costs a lot of money and therefore jobs. Can't be doing that. Nuclear is state funded up the wazoo. Evil government.

without jobs you won't have taxes to fund the green projects you want to fund.
