Jaw Pain

Hey, at the moment every morning I wake up with a really painful jaw. I was just wondering what might cause this? It's not a toothy kind of pain, more like the feeling that my jaw has been tensed for ages and then let go. Is it possible that I've been dong that in my sleep, or like grinding my teeth in my sleep? Sounds weird lol!

could you be putting pressure on it, like lying on it in your sleep?

Lots of people grind their teeth in their sleep. Are you under stress at the moment, with exams/uni?

yep, as Lidia said it could be that you're grinding your teeth in your sleep. If it's not stress or anything like that it might be worth asking your dentist to make you a 'bite plate' to wear at night - i've got one, and it works wonders

I had this. It used to hurt when I open my mouth. I could only open it to a certain amount so had limited openin. It also used to click when I tried to open it and yawn. It was due to stress as it has now gone but I did have physiotherapy. She used to release my muscle tention by pressing on your cheek where it is sensitive which you can do yourself. I also had and electric acupuncture done.

maybe you just slept with your mouth wide open and so with your muscles being stretched.

Ah, well sounds like its stress-related, It'll go in a couple of weeks then! It's not a major thing - gone after about 10 minutes, so I'll just grin and bear it! Thanks xxx
