I'm doing this to see if I have the qualifications I need. What does it mean when I says 'Band 1' and 'Band 2'. I got two 1's, five 2's and a 4 for my standard grades but I don't know if a 'Band 1' is just a 1 or a 'Band 2' is a two :s-smilie: Any help?

yep Band 1 just means 1, and Band 2 just means 2.

Eh cheers  Feel a little thick asking now - oh well better safe than sorry.
Not sure about in Standard Grade but in Higher, a band 1 is a high A, band 2 is a low A, band 3 is a high B etc etc.

As I say though, havent a clue how it works at Standard Grade and it was annoying as hell when people kept saying after the higher results came through "Oooh, I got blah blah blah Band 1s" when I'd mostly got Band 2 As and Band 3 Bs... it's like - they're still As and Bs fgs.

Sorry, went off on a tangent there...

It's always nice to get band 1 As though. Cambridge always ask for the bands.

I doubt it. Apart from chemistry and graph. comm. I had about a 75% average across physics, english and maths.
Scottish Unis dont tend to ask for bands at all... Im glad because I thought the point of the grading system was that you could tell easily which grade you got etc, as long as you got an A then that was a good thing.

Too much competition with bands I think, in our school anyway it was just another way for the 5A students to show off...
