Maybe the John's rep isn't such a bad thing, after all? I didn't realise I could get away with acting like a d**k and people would just blame it on my college!

As for Saturdays, I live in hope that they'll scrap them before we start, just as they did for us this year. Then again, if the supposed 2nd year workload is anything to go by...

Yeah, people like me will anyway, but only in certain circumstances. Sorry, d750, it was warranted in the case I'm referring to

Oooh, that would be nice. But the workload terrifies me, especially as I've been thinking "I must work much harder next year" to see if I can get my Tripos grade up a bit. I think I might drown...

I think it was the Fitz medsoc website which claimed the 2nd year has twice as much work. Someone's got to be taking the piss...

It has already been said of our boatie medics that they'll drop Medicine before they drop rowing. These are people who will be looking after you one day!

I try not to think about it

Hey, I'm a boatie! Although I'm not dumb enough to drop medicine for rowing, that's just.... stupid.

Err...which boat?

And I know it's stupid, I don't think they would really, but it does make you wonder on occasion...

It does happen unfortunately. You do get the odd hardcore boatie every year who rows themselves to a fail.

Happens here to, normally the university rowers though, college boaties normally put degree first, sometimes...

I was in third boat in first and second terms. In third term I went the geek route and dropped rowing to spend more time revising and get more lay-ins  Second term was just ridiculous because everyone had stuff on in the afternoons and all we ever did was mornings :frown:

I'm thinking next term might be all about coaching a women's boat  Although the lack of rowing skill could pose a problem (not affected the past coaches tho!).

Regarding rowers, a medic in my year almost "rowed himself to a fail". Then he decided tennis, badminton and procrastination were far more efficient tools of self-destruction. Nice guy tho.

No one deserves that... good luck mate, it's hard work. "Now put the blade in the water, yes, like that dear. No, the other way round, you hold on to the handle, the plate goes in the water..." Helenia's going to row next year.

Ahh...all dropping into place...*evil looks * Our boaties are both first boat, which is truly terrifying.

I'm contemplating rowing next term, but I really don't know whether I'll be able to cope with it plus working.

Baz, shut up . Even I can manage basics like that, and he's not going to be coaching me anyway *would make a cutting comment about LMBC, but feels that she is hardly in a position to do so*

"Let's row with the legs this time girls... You never knew, we might get up to 20 strokes by Eights......................"

By the way, I was referring to my own lack of ability rather than that of the future girls novices... although if they're anything like the current girls' lower boats...

You should definitely try rowing. It really doesn't disrupt your work much unless you're either in a top boat or they keep doing earlies and make you miss the first five minutes of your lectures. Then again, the latter only affects me because I'm too stubborn to buy a bike. And the former is never going to affect me

Just think of how much time you waste in your day as it is... unless you're one of these amazing ever-busy people; personally, I'm the lazy type so there is plenty of time I can cut into without compromising the amount of work I do  Except in third term obviously

You and Baz should get a club together to bitch about women's lower boats. I'm sure you'd have fun

If I did row (and I'm not a morning person) then I'd have to become a lot more organised, that's for sure. I do have a bike though, living at the Colony I'm going to have to anyway, so I might occasoinally make it to lectures on time  Obviously you managed it
