I don't quite understand all this stuff about all colleges being of different standards. I thought Cambridge was just Cambridge and that most lectures (at least this is what I was led to believe with medicine) are run centrally.
I have a place at Girton from October and was quite chuffed to see it has a swimming pool in the living accomodation! Yet it seems to get a slating from all the critics on this site. Is it really crap in some way and, if so, could someone please email me and tell me how ([email protected]).
Aside from that, I'm rather scared about going to a new place and not knowing anyone, so if any Girtonians or medics (or Cambridge Gaelgeoirí)would like to get in touch, it'd be great to get to know some people before I go up!
LMBC M3!!! Grr... you knocked us out first round of pembroke regatta... Caius M3... Grr...
now i'm really confused... you mean you actually need to wash laundry? my friend tells me she has a magical chair that works by "osmosis" or something like that - she's a bionatsci and awfully smart.
how it works - she dumps clothes on a pile on said chair. when she has emptied her wardrobe, she pulls out the stuff right at the bottom of the pile, and voila, all the dirt and grime and nasty things have osmosed to the top of the pile, and the clothes are ready to wear again!!
( and she REALLY, ACTUALLY does this... she's an international student like me, and she hadn't gone home at all in 8 months, and in that time, she claims that she did laundry twice. )
KHL, what is you first name? Just wondering if I might know you. Was Ian (1st year medic) rowing with you?

Is quite glad she hasn't met this person! I don't have a magic chair, I just have to do my own washing. Don't you get free laundry at Caius anyway? Or is that somewhere else? Mine costs £3 a time, and I never have the right change. I managed to go without washing stuff for two weeks at the end of term, and even that involved emergency hand-washing one top and a little expedition to buy some more underwear!

Ooooh, mine is free Still ends up piling up in the cupboard until I have two week's worth of clothes to process tho

It's not fay-urrrrrr And the washing machine eats my socks, so I have to replace them! My quality collection of Winnie the Pooh socks does not come cheap!
Oh, if you're still trying to work out who I am, there is a heavily disguised photo of me here - I'm on the right in the sunnies.
Ok, now it makes sense, I really haven't met you before I'll see if I can find any pictures on the internet of me, as I remember there was one on the Queen's ergs site - but those pics do tend to be scary on the whole, although good entertainment nonetheless.

Hmmm...sweaty men in pain... great
Jet usually have photos of most boats, if you were in Lent bumps there'll probably be some there.
Ok, I did find a pic in the end. This one is from Lent Bumps and was taken after we got a bump, which goes some way towards explaining why some people don't realise they're supposed to be ROWING!
can't say i've seen you around before, but then again, i'm not particularly observant.
and yes, ian was in my boat, i think... (he was subbing in) name's kwok, though i don't think i'm all that remarkable/famous/notorious/infamous...
and yes, caius laundry is free too , but tit hall's isn't, and this friend is at tit hall. they provide magic chairs though... personally, i do laundry approximately twice in 3 weeks, though i've done laundry twice in 2 days before in emergency cases...
edit: i don't think there's a decent picture of me out there... i just don't appear in photos properly. but i think anish knows who i am - we were introduced in a semi-drunken state on the last day of exams, get him to point me out sometime next term. as for rowing events... pfft, i look like an idiot. look for caius lents M3 or mays M4, not M5 (6 and str respectively) if you're really interested.
It's not the most recognisable picture of me, but it's hard to find one where I'm not 50% obscured by someone sitting in front of me. Add to that that I'm not in half of the the Lents LMBC III pictures because I was too ill to race...

Yes, you are who I thought you were. And you are allowed to say "6" and "bow" - I may be a pathetic girl, but I do know boatie talk. In fact my friends told me I knew far too much about it for someone who doesn't actually row. Oh yes, it is him at the back. Can't see much though, never mind
I think nearly everyone hates themselves in photos. I do, I nearly always either have a manic grin or am looking the wrong way and my nose looks huge. I'm pleased with the May Ball ones though, would have cried if they hadn't come out right considering what I paid!

Though you didn't know the difference between Bow-side and Stroke-side.
