GCSE chemistry help

Hey guys, I was practicing my chemistry, where I then stumbled across a problem. When writing chemical formulae such as magnesium hydroxide, and aluminium sulfate, do you have to remember the chemical equations along with the charges of the hydroxides and sulfates etc? Also, does anyone have a good tutorial on how to write a chemical formula like ammonium nitrate? Thank

You are given a periodic table during the exam so it should be easy to find out the charges in each group.
I think that you must know the charges of these:-

Hydroxide = OH, Charge =-1
Nitrate= NO3, Charge = -1
Sulfate = SO4, Charge = -2
Carbonate= CO3, Charge = -2
Ammonium = NH4 Charge = +1

So to answer your question as ammonium has a charge of +1 and nitrate a charge of -1 the chemical formula is simply NH4NO3
