# Maths Help watch

1. i'm working through some further maths questions and i really don't get how you can find both x and y from this, can anyone help?

so the question asks to work out the values of x and y such that:
(√3+5)(√3+4) = x + y√3

i can get as far as expanding it to 23 + 9√3 = x + y√3
but i don't know how to find x or y without knowing one of the values.
am i supposed to give y in terms of x, and vice versa, or get a number/surd as an answer?
