    like the title says I can't stop lying, I've told all kinds of lies mostly really small but now more serious things like I have a disease. I tell lies to avoid or deflect questions I find uncomfortable or sometimes to make me seem better. They just come out before I've had the chance to think.

    Every time I tell these lies I feel really guilty afterwards, and occasionally people catch me out on them which causes relationship issues. I know its a problem, how do I stop?

    By the sounds of things you lying by saying you are ill or have a disease to get out of doing things kinda sounds like you've got an issue at saying no, if so then I completely understand where you are coming from.

    I would always lie to get out of doing things, going places with people e.t.c and like you've mentioned people started to catch me out and I've lost valuable friendships because of this.

    The best thing for you to do is to just.. stop lying If it is because you don't want to say no just stand your ground and stick up for yourself and say no! Im sure your friends would rather you be blunt and say no rather than make up an elaborate excuse just to get out of things.

    Slow down and think about what you say it and the consequences it might have, or if you might regret it afterwards. Try and not say any new lies and gradually hopefully people might forget the ones you've already told if you do nothing to reiterate them, or even coorect them. It might be hard to stop at first but you'll get there eventually! You could ask someone you know to help you, can see why you might not want to though. There's also various online CBT courses (moodgym is a good one) might help too, not sure. Hope you can manage it!

    what the furry one said. If you think beforehand then you can give an answer that isnt a lie, but doesnt make you give information you arent comfortable with. Loes are a bit dull imo and can be avoided.
