Basically I want to sign off due to certain reasons but I haven't yet got a job. What happens if I do that, is it just like before where I just get no money or do I have to pay my own NI contribution?

    Thanks

Your NI goes towards your state pension. You don't have to pay if you don't want to. It's only something like a few pounds a week.

You only pay NI if you have a job (or are self-employed), and only on earnings above £155 per week.

    It's 12% of earnings.
