So basically, they announced prefects at my school just before Easter, and I wasn't selected... I really don't want to sound entitled, but I think I pretty much deserved to be a prefect. They say they choose it from 'academic ability' and 'extracurricular contribution' - I got 10 A* and dropped something like 20 marks over all my GCSEs, I am apparently in the upper 15% of my school for academics, I'm the captain of rowing and was the first to try and start extra coaching for the younger kids, I am a member of the sixth form council, I volunteered at every school event where my help was requested and I've ran the bar (not been paid) at a music event they have every year. The thing is, the people who they chose instead of me is the thing that pisses me off most - there's one drug dealer, one person who sells porn he downloads using school wifi and there's one person who's basically dropping out of the school because his grades are so poor.
They also have an 'election' to choose who would be a good prefect, and I know for a fact that everyone in my houseroom (at least 1/6th of our year) voted for me (it really mattered to me, and they all knew, and I saw them tick the box next to my name).
The thing is, apparently the deputy head chooses the prefects, and he and my mum really hate each other - the music event was last night, and he swore at her and blamed her for her/most of the PA quitting...
I know it's a really minor thing but it's just been annoying me since Easter and the thing last night made me wonder if the usher vetoed me cause he doesn't like my mum or something. If I'm honest, it's not really the status that I want, it's just I want some recognition for the 6 years of volunteering etc. that I've done for my school.
If anyone had a similar thing happen to them, how did you forget about it?
    Thanks
