I'm taking a year out and would like to get away from my supermarket job and make use of the skills I have gained from HNC Admin and IT. There are a lot of administration jobs for my local council but many of them appear to be in primary schools. Bearing in mind I just turned 19 yesterday, do you think I would be looked upon less favourably? I meet the person spec but I'm only a couple of years older than the kids lol, and I suppose I lack in on the job experience since I work in replenishment at a supermarket... but should I go for it anyway?

I think you'd struggle in a high school but the age difference shouldn't be an issue for primary. You will just look like a grown up to the kids anyway. You might be light on experience compared to other applicants but you may as well apply, you don't lose anything by trying.

I highly doubt your age would be an issue.

Thanks guys! I applied anyway. 7 years isn't (to me) a lot of a difference. The form didn't ask for an age anyway, though it does look as though I'll have to drop out of college now because I've failed a unit and can't sit the exam for the qualification I need. Oopsy
