Hello, what do you mean by good places get taken up?? I thought that by receiving an offer from the uni that your place IS reserved if you achieve the required grades and so whether you're first or last to reply with the qualifying grades then you should get a place.

Shes talking about if she doesnt meet her original offer whether or not spaces in clearing will be taken up quickly.
sure the school know your results before you do! i was in spain when AS results came out last year! just rang up the school from a payphone and got them there and then! my advice is: save the partying til you get the resukts - i had a chronic hangover, it was 42oC and i was wearing jeans! dont copy me - im just another irish drunk!
also the universities know on the monday before we get our results what grades we have so some people may find out if they get into uni before results day!!!

Plans changed :frown:, I am going on the 3rd and returning on the 31st. What should I do now?. Also say if I wanted a priority remark would the school be willing to do that with their money and then I can pay them when I get back?

Probably, but you could ask them before you go. If you can get access to the Internet on results day, I'd say the first thing you should do is check Track because if you're in, you don't need to worry. All you'll need to do is ask a relative or friend to open any uni related post in case there's anything important you need to send back, like the AS12 slip from UCAS. If you're not in, that's when you need to either phone your school or (if you get someone else to pick up your results for you) phone them to see what you got. Then you can arrange getting a priority remark if you want and sorting out Clearing. The vacancies should be listed on the UCAS website and they'll also be in the Independent, so you can start phoning unis you're interested in. The only thing is, if they want to formally make you an offer, I think you need to send them your Clearing Passport, which UCAS will send you, so that's another reason you'd need someone checking your post.

yeah thanks kelly. Do you think I can phone the unis and explain about the letter or is it actually ucas who send it?. Also I will have access to track and have asked the office people in my school to send me my results via email. Is it easy to contact unis and ucas etc on results day, I mean I will be phoning from the other side of the world lol.

It's UCAS who send it and it's just a slip where you confirm whether or not you're accepting your place, but some unis require you to send it if you do want the place and some only ask you to send it if you don't, so it varies. I guess you could just phone them, ask them to make a note that you're confirming your place and send the letter when you get back if needed. The phone lines will probably be really busy with the amount of students trying to get through for various reasons, so it may take a while, but you should be able to get through eventually.
