    Hi Guys,
    i have a very simple question about parallel lines. actually the equation of a line was given and i've managed to find the equation of a line parallel to the given line but my problem is when i want to write it in the form of ax+by+c=0, my answer becomes different with the text book in terms of signs . please can anyone tell me if these two lines are the same or I'm making a mistake somewhere thanks

    They are the same thing.

    y - 2x - 3 = 0

    Move everything over to the other side:

    0 = -y + 2x + 3.

    See, same thing. Both versions would score full marks.
