I do the odd bit of revision here and there as I still have over a year until my first exam. My question is, when should I start doing more intense revision (e.g.. 3 hours a day)

    March 2017.

Edit: Assuming you start in May 2017 that is.

My first exam is on tuesday and I am only just starting. Although it is only English language so there isn't much you can do. For most other subjects I started revising shortly after Christmas for about an hour every day. I only began intense revision around Easter and am now in study leave so revising for the majority of the day.
Don't start worrying about exams yet, concentrate on any coursework/controlled assessments you have as getting good marks in them will mean you wont have to score as highly in the final exam to get the top grade.

A month or 2 in advance. Past papers etc. That stuff

However of course do all your homework etc and revise for the tests (at least cramming the day before a tesrd helped me remember it long term) you'll be fine
