Try to write down everything given in the question, then what they ask for.
When you try to solve for a variable, with a given set of variables, look or think for an equation that will fit them.
For instance, you're given a current and a resistance, and asked to find voltage.
Immediately you should look for an equation that links voltage, current and resistance together. (V=IR)
For more complicated questions try extracting the bare information given, forgetting about all the waffle along with the question. Turn the word question into a numbers one, and you should be fine
A highlighter helps!
