Hi there, it would really be helpful to know how to even calculate IGCSE English Grade Boundaries. I got 32 marks in my coursework and I got 20 in my speaking and listening exam. Currently I am doing the extended paper and I would like to know how many marks I would actually need to achieve a grade C? Thanks Guys!

The way you calculate it is by multiplying your speaking and listening mark by 0.843.

E.g (0.843 x 29) = 24.447

Then you add that mark to your coursework

E,g 49 + 24.447 = 73.447 (Rounds down)

The Grade boundaries then are C: 76 B: 86 A: 96 A*: 106

So for this individual to get an A* it is 33 marks

Why 0.843?

Why 0.843?
I think it's because the S+L is out of 25. So to convert it to the 20% it's worth, you have to do that.

Oh I see. Makes sense because the total marks is 125.

To me that would seem like you need 40, which given I believe it's out of 50 isn't too bad? It's certainly possible, anyway.
(Someone may want to check my understanding)

Okay so I'm not particularly sure how to work mine out:

Got 38/40 for the Argumentative + 9/10 for Reading
Then got 36/40 for the Persuasive
And again got 36/40 for the Narrative

For my speaking and listening, I got 23/30 overall..

So I'm not entirely sure how to work out what mark I need to get tomorrow to get an A overall.

Someone help me please

Also if you want access to Mr Bruff's iGCSE English Language Ebook - then private message me and I'll send you the username and password
