I went to a teaching event not long ago just to get an idea about my options. Bit of background about myself I was considering career change and few friends said commented perhaps I would like to try teaching as I've enjoyed tutoring over the years and being a mentor etc.
So to cut a long story short I went to the event and I felt quite disappointed in the way it was conducted. The advisors seemed to be pushing me towards the cash incentives as opposed to being passionate about teaching x subject or listening to what I really wanted.

That's a shame Don't let it put you off teaching though! Try to maybe go to some other teaching events - hopefully you will have better luck.

It's because they're desperate for those teachers and are willing to train you up during the summer to get you ready for your PGCE.
To put it into perspective, there's about 40 secondary schools within a 30 mile radius of me and every single one is recruiting either Science or Maths.
Go for your subject passion, I did. Yeah, I didn't get a bursary, I have no income for a year and I'll struggle to find a job but I really enjoy my subject and it shows.
