Would Sainsbury's really sack me!? 3 Months Probation Question

Calling fellow Sainsbury's/former Sainsbury's employees

We all know Sainsbury's carries out a 3 month probation period for its new employees. But how likely is it that they'd sack you for something as simple as "not working fast enough." Some people have told me they hardly ever sack anyone...my supervisor puts it as they'd just say "bye bye." This is an important issue for me because I really need to keep my job lol.
Just today a checkout manager asked me to move away from her department (for saying a quick hello to a guy that went to my old school) and then grassed on me to my supervisor for having a quick chat, while pushing some crates out, with a guy on the fish counter (who wasn't serving anyone). I'm on produce and it's the type of department which you can work and have a little chat as long as it's not diverting you too much. So what's her problem, she's not even my manager.

So I'd just like to know...Is it all talk or does it have to be serious business until the 3 months are up? And what they'd get rid of you after the 3 months for?

Thanks lol

They do get rid of some people after 3 months but you have to be absolutly diabolical.

i doubt you'll get sacked for having a little chat, if that happened i would have been sacked a million times over :p:
I think it has to be something rle serious for u to get the sack after 3 months, I rle dont think u would get the sack after 3 months because u chatted to someone u knew. The manager u were talking about was probably just having a bad day, i wouldnt worry.

Unless you're smoking crack or having sex in the chillers (happened at my store....) you're going to struggle to get sacked after 3 months. They've spent 3 months training you, so long as you're competent you'll be fine.

And checkout managers can be a little funny, 'specially if they're having a bad day, just ignore them.

I do and its served me well the last 2.5 years!
Lol, Sainsbury's sounds worse than Morrisons. (where everyone whose worked there for more than 3 months think they run the place).

Nah, I just know that (in our store at least) understaffing is a serious problem and checkout managers especially tend to take it out on people whose fault it isn't coz they're pissed off and stressed. Just ignore them and they go away..
I'd sack you for the banter.

Yes they will as you have not demonstrated the appropriate level of professionalism.

When I worked there I started before 3 other Christmas temps. They ended up keeping me and this other guy; the other two were pretty useless.
