    there is loads of mention about the "russel group"

    does anyone know what it is?

    But I would think that Durham fits into the whole Russell Group thing. Hmmm....

    Me too, i was surprised not to find it on the list, but then again Strathclyde,Dundee and Aberdeen arent on either list while inferior universities are so its a bit of a mystery.

    Not necessarily inferior, but certainly no better:

    East Anglia
    Surrey
    Goldsmiths
    Birkbeck
    Liverpool

    With the exception of York, Durham, St.Andrews, Warwick, LSE and Bath the rest of the member institutions are about the same level of the foremetioned 3.
