I prefer the tube to the bus anytime, but I'm still not a fan of either. Failing that, you could just take up cycling and be the enemy of everyone in London. The choice is yours...

I was considering cycling to Imperial and checked the bicycle lots on Imp website the other day.

Why the enemy of everyone in London?

I know house 28 basement have showers down there.

I heard you saying 28 and 32 kitchens

Is Pembridge divided into 28 and 32? Why 28 and 32? Postal number?

How much would it cost travelling back and forth from imperial on the tube/bus per week roughly from Pembridge, just wondering if I'd be better off paying a bit more for one of the closer ones to save on travelling costs.

Should we take the tube or bus if we are staying at Pembridge?

I'm presuming it's 2 houses, numbers 28 & 32? Either that or there's a lot of people sharing a kitchen...

Why the enemy of everyone in London?

Because cyclists annoy the hell out of everyone.

Bit of a quiz for you all. Who said this?

"I cannot tell you the overmastering hatred I feel, WAVES of disgust when there is that frowny woman on her bicycle who looks at you as though you are the symbol of all capitalism, and meat-eating - as though you are enemy of the people, you are the enemy of the planet, you are globalisation, you are capitilism with a huge cigar just because you might've slightly blown her off course on her blasted bicycle."

A cookie for the right answer.

God I hate cyclists.

Just wondering... Are Imperial college halls co-ed? It should be because both males and females can apply to any particular hall. But on this http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/residence...rrentvacancies particular website they seem to separate undergraduate males and undergraduate females room?! Why is that so? Or is it that in the halls it is males on one floor and females on another floor?

They actually lock women away in the lab at the top of the tallest tower guarded by 3 test tubes filled with picric acid. To get to the women you must complete 4 quests - YES FOUR QUESTS to prove your worth, or else you won't be getting any.

right, im pembridge this year. gonna be my last week!
ill try and answer everones questions here.
right, everyone stop worrying! of all the people in halls i cant think of more than 5/10 people who smoke and those do it outside or in there rooms.

there isnt a big theiving problem, jus things are easily misplaced thats all so dnt worry about that. and the cleaners take stuff if its left out and not washed!

to uni its a 25min walk thwough hyde park which is really nice, a 10 min cycle, or as mike said 15 min bus journey which will stop really close to uni, so much more convenient than the tube.

the halls are made up from 3 houses, 28,30 and 32. also the annex out the back. there are two kitchens, one in 28 and one in 32. i prefer 28 as its so much more sociable and generally becomes a hang out area for drinkin games and serious banter!

if ure in the annex, u will not have an ensuite but will only have to share a kitchen/bathroom with 5 other people!

ive got an ensuite this year overlookin the road, realy lucky to get it but also the most expensive room possible, but worth every penny.

not sure if i need to answer anything else but if u have any q's jus ask and if i have a look here ill answer.

Is the hall co-ed? Or are the females and males grouped into different floors or regions of the hall?

Do they like to mix EU and non-EU students?

About how many people are there in the hall?

Are there laundry facilities?

In another thread, someone said that in some halls the kitchens are closed after midnight - is this the case in Pembridge?

What are the internet facilities like? What restrictions are there e.g. on p2p?
Reply 54
the halls are mixed with every one placed randomly really, there's no splitting up at all!
theres laundry facilities in the basement with wasing machines and driers.
our kitchens can be used after midnight jus aslong as ure not toooooo roudy with noise ect, but tbh we've never had complaints and we go into the early hours larkin about.

internet is in every room, can download stupidly fast, in terms of p2p its frowned upon if u download too much! but if u got itunes, u can view/play evryone else' usic in halls with it so thats preety sweet.

WTF? Could you please look in a dictionary for the definition of an en suite.
Reply 57
the question on whether there is a tiolet in ensuite is ok,you can understand it if you go on the imperial website and look at the picture of ensuite for pembridge as there seems to be no tiolet!

No... Everyone knows what ensuite means, but just take a look at the panoramas provided by Imperial for "Pembridge Single Ensuite" and you see why this is asked.

http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/residences/hallsofresidence/undergraduate/pembridgehall/singleensuite

There seem not enough space for the inclusion of a toilet. Can you explain what is going on?

I am considering cycling to Imperial College and have checked the bicycle parking areas http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/facilitiesmanagement/security/bicycles/ . I have a few questions however:
1. Is it a popular option to cycle to College?
2. Anyone tried the parking facilities under the Faculty Building? Are they nice?
3. Are there bicycle parking lots at Pembridge?
