ok I am listed as a sole trader however I have no idea how to file tax returns. in essence it is part 3 on the HMRC website that confuses the daylights out of me as I have no idea about stuff like capital etc. during the last tax year I earned a lot less than £8k and in fact hmrc owes me money. like I said, I have no idea about how to file tax returns due to the friggin jargon associated with it.

if anyone has any tips / can explain properly, I would be much obliged (fyi I was employed last year april -july then was unemployed till january this year, where I became a sole trader. I only earned £63 between january and march and did some work in march but wasnt paid till april)

. I have been self employed since january this year but am a sole trader as I am earning less than the 40% tax threshold for self-employed people (if I earn more, then I would consider setting a ltd company).

also I cannot afford an accountant which is why I am asking on tsr.
