# FP2 - Modulus equations watch

1. Hi there,

Is there a quick way of solving part b of this question:

I can do part a, but not sure how to do part b without sketching out the 2 equations, but the question is only worth 1 mark so I must be missing something obvious.

thanks,
Malcolm.
2. Write out the definition of |x+3| for x≥-3 and x<-3...

Then see if the answers to part (a) work...
3. 0<=x

So does that mean you can reject the -5<x<-3 part from part a, just leaving: -2<x
4. (Original post by Sir_Malc)

Yes.
5. Thanks. I didn't realise you could look at it like that to get the correct region.

Cheers!
