No Bristol used to have a poker society but it was shut down because it was connected to gambling. I don't think that the University wanted to be associated with gamblers and such... You can still play though, I played many times with my flatmates when I was studying, I didn't win many times mind you! Got my own poker chips too hehe!

What?!? that insane.. ok we have to set one up.. i was really interested, because I read about the studentuk poker championships and it sounded very interesting. Is setting up a society complicated or take up alot of time?

I'm not sure. But in regards to setting up another poker society, I doubt the student's union will allow you to... Feel free to enquire though!

No, they asked again this year and its banned, so it wouldn't be an official university soceity and it wouldn't get UBU funding.

This isn't good.. hahaha, must find a way to qualify for the tournament another way.. it sounds like a very fun experience! :-p

What tournament?

www.**************.com .. its a major tournament open to all UK students, first prize is over a 1000 pounds + a seat at world series of poker.. but i think its amazing just for the experience

There's a pub in Bristol called The Hill which has a poker night every Sunday. A lot of students and non-students play and it's a really good way to meet people.
