Is this weird? Text message

My boyfriend had a bad relationship with his ex and when we got together he said he wouldn't tell me he loved me until he really meant it and was sure. That was fine with me. A few times he nearly let it slip out but caught himself in time (we've been together 5 months). We've been apart for 2 weeks and in a text today he put 'i love u xxx' at the end. Seems a strange way to tell me! I was expecting some romantic moment during a meal or something..... I wonder if he means it..?

sometimes you dont know what you've got til its gone...

and now you've been away for a couple of weeks hes no doubt missing you and just wanted to tell you how much. I think if he's made a point of NOT saying it befre, then equally he's making a point OF saying it now.

Be happy

would've been 10x nicer if he made the effort to spell 'you'..

Friends always say 'love u/ love ya' I dont believe somebody really loves until they say 'I love you' to your face, maybe he just meant it in a friendly way?

What did you say back? x

Reply 6

I didn't say anything lol. Maybe it is in a friendly way. I guess I'll wait to see if he says it to my face anytime soon!

No i think he might mean it, i just mean he said that for now to be friendly, but i think he might tell you soon.

It took 4 months for me and my boyfriend to tell each other we loved each other, and i was very hurt from a past relationship too.

Dont worry about it hun, he will say it eventually and even if he doesnt soon he probably loves you. Just be patient, cos i know its hard when you've been hurt before x

Maybe he was too nervous to say it the first time in person?

usually, like the person who posted after you did, I like it when they spell it out. hahhaa "I love you" means more to me than "I luv u"...but TS, I reckon you should be happy.

It's no big deal, in a text message, though. I've told girls I love them who I'm not even going out with - usually after they've said the same to me. Anyway, of course he loves you, he's your bf! There's just a difference between loving and somebody and wanting to spend your life with them, being prepared to die for them, that sort of thing.

I agree. I doubt that he meant it in the big romantic 'i love you' way.

I've had guys say it in texts a lot. Means nothing.

But of course everyone is different. Ask him. Communication.

Maybe you should wait for him to say it to your face. He could just be shy so by texting it, he can see your reaction without being let down.

Why does 'meal' = 'romance' anyway?
