Accident In The Gents

Hello, just a note that im not going to anon because it was an accident that could have happened to anyone and im not ashamed but i am a little worried

I was in a city centre today and like it is for everyone, nature called! I decided to use some public toilets nearby, what i didn't know is that was about to be a very bad decision.

I went into the toilet and it was a public toilet right in the centre of the city, I selected a cubical went in shut the door and didn't spot the hypodermic needle on the floor  ! by the time i spotted the first on i had stepped on the second one !

Fortunately it was laying down on the floor and the needle didn't go through my shoe and i only stepped on the actual plastic bit of the syringe!

I decided to forget the whole empty of the bladder thing and legged it out of the toilet to my m8s waiting for me outside.

I properly examined my foot but couldn't see anywhere it had penitrated my foot as my feet aren't the most sensitive places, but do you think i should get some tests done just in case ??? Im just a bit shaken up by this and wasn't expecting it for a city centre toilet with tons of shoppers outside!

no wonder theres so few public toilets nowadays...

So...the needle didn't go in your foot.

So, you don't need a test.

Reply 2

if your not sure if it went in or not id get checked just to be on the safe side if you are sure that it didnt go in then theres no point in getting the tests

Reply 3

If you're 100% sure it didn't penetrate your skin then you're all OK.

Reply 4

You should be fine, but if its worrying you that much, you should get a test just to put your mind at ease.

Reply 5

thanks guys for your help, like i said im fairly sure it didnt go in my foot and i certainly dont want to waste NHS time and resources when its likely theres nothing wrong!

But i have learn't the lesson to never use that set of public toilets for good

And time is of the essence here you must decide sooner rather than later because if you were sure then you need the medications asap

Reply 7

it's better u go for a check -up anyway . .cos it'll be bugging u o/w. . like it has been now, so much so, that u felt like u had to post in a forum.
go to the NHS . . then u can stop the constant worrying/what if etc. . . . put ur mind at ease

were you not wearing shoes, or something?

Reply 9

I realise seeing the needles may have shocked you slightly but running out of the toilet? And wanting some test? You'd know if it had penetrated your shoe/skin surely.

Really don't know how some people survive outside of their own houses sometimes...

Reply 10

WTF? You didnt step on the needle and you had shoes on and...

OK. Well done on making dead sure and creating this thread, but your similarity with the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz is astounding.

If it worrying u alot then go get check tho i would leave it till around 3 or 4 as A&E ill be full of drunks at this hour (trust me ive spent enough time there after taekwondo fights gone wrong).

I no someone that it happened to they managed to carm themselves down by looking at the time viruses survive out of the body and realised their chance of catching anything was rather low.

Personally I'd have finished my business, HIV or not.

Reply 13

Thread fails to deliver Title potential.

I wouldnt worry about it mate. Even id a needle is somehow angled perpendicular to a sole of a shoe i doubt it would penetrate all the way through without breaking

Reply 14

If you are certain it didn't penetrate then obviously you're ok. Might be worth contacting the local council and alerting them to the fact that those toilets are being used by junkies - it's probably a regular thing.

Stick to ones in shops.

I think you should go and get a test.

I know you say it 99% didn't happen. But you say you are worrying. And if you don't find out for sure - you will just keep on worrying.

So, yeah - go get one done, just for piece of mind more than anything. Just do a casual dr's appointment instead of A&E.

Reply 17

try and wear really thick shoes next time, eg: steel capped leather boots.

Not a fashion statment, but can stop these things from happening!!

Reply 18

Are you guys joking?
How is a plastic tube going to penetrate a shoe?

 @ villageoaf!

Reply 19

If there are even minor doubts crossing your mind then this alone warrants the need to take a test in order to put your mind at complete ease. From what you're saying it would seem that you are just fine as the needle wouldn't have appeared to have penetrated your shoes.

I won't be using public toilets ever again!
