    Hi all

I really want to go to a bar / club to drink and socialize however I have no friends.

Is it normal to go to a bar or club on your own?

i am a little bit worried I should not be going to a bar or club by myself because someone previously said people thought he was crazy when someone went on their own.

Well, I went to Glastonbury on my own when I was 18 after breaking up with the person I was originally going with and met some great people who I spent the whole time with..I've also been to a club on my own after my friends wanted to go home and I had life left in me, and I managed to chat to people and have a good time so it depends what you make of the situation I guess..but normally I wouldn't advise going on your own..have some shots to get in the spirit!

I'd find that so much more awkward! Sitting there twiddling my thumbs waiting for it to start..but in a club people are more willing to chat to you, I just go up to people and make small talk in a club and we're best friends by the time i get a taxi home!

Not saying that I do either but I know people that have gone cinema by themselves but never in a club.

loool. there's no issue with it.
the only thing is that you'd be forced to literally go out and socialise with new people (which in all honesty, is the POINT of going to clubs; rather than sticking to friends you Already know).

i've done it many times; each have been fantastic nights (then again i'ma bit biased because whenever i do go out; i rarely stick by the side of my friends all night; i act like a yoyo; bouncing off to go say hi to new people and then back to my friends. so take my advice with a pinch of salt - it ain't perfect)

I think it's a bit creepy to go to a club on your own
Even to see a particular DJ?

Shouldn't westerners be tolerant of this?

I don't think I could go to a bar alone but I could go to the cinema alone. I kind of enjoy going to the cinema alone. I would only go to the cinema alone during the day though and I wouldn't tell any of my friends I did it.

If you want to go, just go.
You don't need the opinions of random people on the internet to reassure you.
There's not a single person on Earth who's opinion on what is and isn't normal is valid, worth a damn, or matters in the least.

I see so many people worrying about 'is it normal' - it doesn't matter, 'normal' doesn't exist, it's a totally insane concept.

I've been to clubs on my own, because I enjoy the energy, and had a good time. If God himself disproved of that, he can blow smoke up his holy hole; it's your life, you do NOT need others approval to live it.

I go raving on my own, but it's never the ideal situation and I wouldn't go to regular club nights on my ones as it would be boring and miserable!

I'll go to cinemas, shows or rock concerts on my own if nobody wants to come with me because I'm there to see a performance. Bars and clubs are a bit different because the focus is on conversations with other people not a fixed thing you can watch and enjoy.

Only time I go to bars alone is if I'm travelling - wouldn't see any point in doing it in my home town.
