A lady went in to the maternity hospital as her unborn child wasn't moving the midwife asked why she had come in and she told her,the midwife then said to the 2nd year student that she could take the lead but then the midwife left the student for over 90mins and the student was listening for a heartbeat were she was having difficulty finding it one minute it was there but weak the next it wasn't,then when the midwife came back she listened but just said I need to go and get a Dr,when he came he wanted a scan were they found the baby had died so what I'm asking should the student have been left on her own for that amount of time or at all

Aren't students supernumerary? so no that definitely shouldn't have happened and i would report that the mentor to the nmc so they lose their registration for being so irresponsible.

Did the student at any point try to seek help from a senior staff member when they thought something was wrong?
