Modern Foreign Languages at Oxford

I'm Y12 and thinking of applying to Oxford to study Spanish and beginner's Portuguese. However, I have no knowledge of the application process or anything else that I need to know about getting in to the university. Please can someone who knows more than I do give me some help? And explain the MLAT exam? Thanks!!!

The MLAT, if it's the same as when I interviewed there a few years ago, the test was unbelievably difficult...I applied for Russian and Spanish, and I could not believe the level that was required, it was beyond degree level.

You have to submit an application as well as a piece of academic writing (an essay if I remember correctly - I submitted one on comic alogism). It's a tough process, but if you're chosen to go through, you spend a couple of days at a college (either the one you specifically applied or you were allocated) and are assessed frequently.

Hope that helps! (FYI, I didn't get in, I went to UCL instead!)

Start here:

And you sit MLAT (usually at your school) on 2 Nov 2016. The results are used as part of Oxford's assesment of your applcation when shortlisting candidates for interview.

More MLAT info here:

And a sample MLAT
