    Q: Suggest why the oxygen concentration of the water may increase again further downstream
    Mark Scheme:there is less pollution

    So is the table wrong? Why is oxygen concentration higher nearer to source of pollution? shouldn't be reversed?

    The amount of oxygen dissolved is lower nearer the source of pollution, therefore oxygen concentration is high. Odd question... The only thing I can think is that aerobic microorganisms cannot function in the polluted conditions so oxygen concentration is high as they use oxygen to respire. Is it just 1 mark?
