is it worth getting provisional insurance before i pass my test?

I've just bought a car and I'm looking at getting provisional insurance before I pass. If I can find a quote with monthly payments do I have to pay the rest of the contract off when I change to full insurance or does it just get included in my monthly payments for the full insurance? I gathered the second only counts if I stay with the same insurance company but if I do stay is the latter option likely to happen? I'm only planning to have provisional insurance for a month of two so I really don't want to have to pay annually for it unless it would be beneficial.

When I had mine, I passed and just cancelled it. If you go with a provisional ins company it should be that easy, no extra time to pay off.
Not sure how it works staying with the co, but I'd recommend a specialist company as that was cheapest for me.
If you stay with the same company after passing, they will just increase the price... So, if you pay for a year upfront whilst on your provisional, and you then pass after a month, and they increase your insurance, they will then charge you the difference of what it would have been, so you won't end up paying more than you would've if you'd just paid for the full year from having your full license!

Does that answer the question a bit?
