This can only be regressive for feminism. It's quite sad because second wave feminist encouraged people to speak up, encouraged debate, these were the feminists that fought for women's right to be at university, the right to vote etc. The third wave make a mockery of the real activists.

All of these movements that were once appropriate and gained momentum are beginning to overshoot.

I think it's hard to tell from a tweet that only has the name of the society in it. I'd self define as a feminist, but I get that there are some issues that affect men more than women and if the society wanted to deal with things like men's mental health, then rejecting it seems really odd.

However, some MRAs don't actually really care about male issues at all- just use it as a platform to attack women, or view anything where women out perform or reject men as an insult. Just from the name of the society, you can't tell the type of poepe who wanted to create it, or if they were using it as a platform for misogyny and hate.

I'd personally withhold my judgement until I had more than just a tweet and the name of the society to go on. I'd hope they have good reasons for doing this.

I don't necessarily think it's regressive for feminism, and I don't think it has anything to do with universal suffrage or the rights of women to attend university. No-one is suggesting that men shouldn't have the right to attend university. To men, feminism has very little to do with issues that predominantly affect men, unless you consider being forced to treat women as equals a men's issue
