Appointment with a Hygenist. What will they do ?
On Thursday i've got an appointment with a Hygenist.

They scale and polish your teeth basicly clean them for you.
they can either use an ultra sonic machine which uses alot of water which removes staining easyly and removes deposits , or they may just use hand scalers depending on the amount of plaque you have and may also depend on your gums aswell. then just use an electric small brush to polish them all they may also floss or use tepe brushes inbetween your teeth.

I've had it done.. it doesn't really hurt, but it's a bit odd (I found) to actually have someone cleaning your teeth for you. If your gums hurt or anything, they'll give you advice about types of toothbrush etc

ive had it done before it doesnt hurt much at all its just quite cold on your teeth if they use the machine if you want to discuss it further pm me im a dental nurse and quite often work with the hygienists

You basically get the sensation of having a very powerful electric toothbrush polishing your teeth.

How do you get an appointment with a hygenist? is it through your regular dentist? do you have to pay for it?

normally threw your dentist and yeah you do pay for it cost depends on the practice etc. unless your under 18 and in full time education its free

my hygienist is evil. i always come away with my mouth bleeding so much, altho from what my mum has told me this one is just an evil bitch and most r ok
