Depends on how much the train is going to cost you? If the public transport in your area is anywhere near as expensive as it is here, then I probably would try to find a job more local.

Well, the time isn't that much, so in terms of that, it would be worth it.

However, as tortured mentioned, it would really depend on how much the train fare is.

Most people have to travel to part time jobs, a 20 minute train ride is nothing.

20 min. it's not much at all

20 minutes doesn't sound like a problem to me - though you should bear in mind how long on average you'll have to wait for a train, how far it is to walk from the station, and so on. Of course it will probably stop you from wanting to do a 1 hour shift that might come up, but otherwise I don't see it's much of an issue. The train fare might be an hour's wages, but that's not the end of the world if it's a job you want to do.

It might be wise, but... if the train is gonna cost a fair chunk of your wages, it's not worth it, I don't think.

Also, how regular is the train? If it's late/you miss it, you may end up missing most of your shift.
i have a 20-30 min bus ride for my part time job!!! bus fare is a fiver n i get £5.35 an hour!! i luv my job tho soooooooooooo depends i wud say go for it!!
i'm currently working a little under 6.5 hours a day, but the travel there and back, can take up to 2.5 hrs each day. Walk to bus stop in the morning, 10 mins, public transport bus to workplace, 1hr 5mins...

finish work, get back home, approx 1hr bus ride, 10min walk home...

20mins is absolutely nothing. Having to travel for approx 12-13hrs per week, unpaid of course, whilst being on only £6 p/h (temp job too, so the job is bloody boring and low-skilled).....makes me think wtf i accepted the temp job offer. I accepted because i was and am, stupid. Add in, from time-to-time, irritating high school kids that populate the bus on the way to my workplace, every morning....and the torment reaches new heights/new lows...

I dont think there's anything wrong with that, i work a 10 minute drive away but before i passed my test it was 15 minute bus ride and a 10 minute walk.

A 20 minute train ride for me would take me into the city centre and i'd be willing to do that for a job. Some tesco stores provide transport for their staff, mine used to.
20mins isnt far to travel for a part-time job, but it depends on how much it does cost u for the fare
