    I'm unable to read your (blurry!) writing, but the intended method is to expand:

    \ln(e^{2x} \cos x) - \ln (1+ px)

    Here is my working for this question - hope it helps.

    In regards to why yours is incorrect - your expansion was of ln(e^3xcosx) not of just e^3xcosx - so you needed to split the ln up into ln(top)-ln(bottom) which would give you the right answer, as shown in my working.
