Prestige car hire-18 year old

Hey All

I've been driving over a year now, and I have the ball for my final year at college. I'd really like to hire an Aston or a Bentley. I don't have to drive it (I'm pretty sure that's an impossibility) but does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do on a relatively tight budget??

Thanks :-)

Wont happen.
They wont insure you. You'll have trouble hiring a ford transit till you are 21.

ha ha, ok thanks anyway, worth a shot

Well you're a bit vague here. Do you want to hire one with a driver to take you there? As I know this can be done. But you also seem to imply hire as in you just get the car yourself to drive..?

While self driven is next to impossible, cheauffer (sp) driven will be relitively easy... but you wont want an Aston. They arnt very spacious in the back... I imagine you will be taking a lady friend?
4 door bentley is certainly a possibility. Although, I think you will be looking at around £400 for the night.

Look at a chauffeured S-Class. If its good enough for dictators, presidents, royalty and the worlds top businessmen, it should do fine for your ball

Ha ha, ok thanks guys, indeed I will be taking a lady friend. An S-class sounds good! I love them soooo much. I'm gonna have to look into that.

Thanks very much everyone :-D

Just remember, the people who are cheap and tacky will turn up in a big white strech limo, and go home staggeringly drunk... Its not really cool if you do that with a proper limo

You can give me £400 and I'll give you my parents S Class for a couple of hours :p: I'm sure they won't mind.

Self driving even a hired Mondeo is impossible until you 21 ! I'm not sure how much Bentleys are, but a Rolls Royce Phantom costs £800 for a days chauffer driven hire.

what details do they ask for when you hire one out to drive yourself?

When it's not self drive then it's quite simple. However with self the drive the procedure is quite long. You have to leave credit card details with them, proof of idenity, Drivers license, proof of insurance, and maybe pay a little extra if you want a insurance - (tyres, stereo, scratches etc) for the car (e.g 15 pound, if you want wheel spin and thrash the car :p:)

Thats pretty much it, you may need more I'm not certain. But you have to be 21 or over to stand a chance of hiring an self drive.

I drove a rental car in the states when I was 20 - had to pay a young driver supplement ($3 a day) but it was no problem. I wouldn't think UK hire car companies would be much different.

They are immensely different. In Canada you can rent a car at 18, here they will laugh at you if you wanted to rent a 1l micra at 18.

http://www.streetcar.co.uk/terms.aspx Streetcar will rent a car to 19-21yr olds who have held a licence for 2 years. Although they're a rental club rather than ad hoc car hire.

That looks brilliant. However I assume you have to be using there services consistently.

I've hired 2 self-drive cars from Enterprise, a micra and a yaris though, not exactly an aston martin! But I was 17 when I hired the first one.
We hired a Bently to get to our ball, I think it was about £15 each as there were four of us going, so about £60 to take us there, much nicer than a limo!

If you're from near Wales, I know a lad who's got a REALLY nice Roller, who'll sort you out cheap.

Only from around Wales though, as anywhere else would cripple him in fuel.

I suspect cinderella has already been to the ball...
