How do you provide support for anxious, emotional, frightened patients? nursers/ Watch

    Yo, MH support worker/aspiring nurse here.

    It totally depends on context - who the patient is, what has upset them, what is the current situation (threatening? 1-1 or group? location?) and wot not. It is hard for me to answer in general because people can be so different.

    I would always say - listen to them. They often have the best idea about what is wrong and what might help them cope.

    Whenever I was really stuck, I made them a brew. Just to show them, even though I don't know what to say, I care.
