Another sleepless night
Im really annoyed next door has like a bubbly mini water fountain thing and sometimes it is off at night but a lot of the time he leaves it on and I just can't get to sleep, partly cause I get mad and it annoys me. I can't see the thing but can here it, would it be a bit rude to tell him to turn it off at night? He only moved in a few months ago Ive been here 21 years lol, but doubt that gives me any more right.

I understand what you mean- I'm used to quiet when I sleep so any noise aggravates the hell out of me!
If he is erratic in his 'fountain switching on/off'!! then I presume he may just forget somtimes to turn it off.
It's definitely worth a try to ask him, if at night, he could turn it off. It's hardly going to cause him an inconvenience, whereas it is affecting you!

just ask...the worst he can do is say 'no' and leave it on
I can't see why he would want it on anyway, he also has these different coloured glow circular lights placed around his garden at night it looks like aliens have arrived. Anyway, since none of you think its cheeky I'l ask him.

I thought it might have been me over reacting at first so guess I posted anon thinking it was me with a noise problem.
Btw I find it interesting your doing astronomy, what career are you thinking of?
i thought the sound of running water was supposed to help you sleep? but yea if it does your head in ask him to turn it off, if all else fails play your music really loud until he comes out screeming.
Sounds like Chinese water torture.
