What do you think?

A step too far for the publicly funded company?

Non story.

Only mistake is in the way it's been advertised.

What happened to my white privilege?

It's lost now here as well.

(I think I should clarify this is joke because I got removed for pasting the description of a homosexual dating app earlier)

There has been targeted recruitment at the BBC (and a whole heap of other organisations) for over 30 years.

Get over it.
The exact same thing happens the other way round to people who aren't white or male everyday just not as overtly.

'Targeted Recruitment'? Just because you give it a name doesn't make it morally right.

I think it's common knowledge that the BBC have quotas in place, but many will be shocked to realise that some positions are seemingly 'off limits' to people because of the colour of their skin.

Thanks for the comment. Any evidence to support this?

As it does to white and male individuals everyday just not as overtly either.

Edit: More to the point, that doesn't make it right.

Omfg UK is majority white by a long reach. So stupidly it's gonna look racist if employment stats mirror demography stats.
But BBC has been accused of racism toward people of colour before, so now it's tryna fight racism with what looks like more racism lol
but it's just to compensate for the minority of minorities being hired

So here's the job role everyone. An assistant intern position.

In what areas of UK and in what job fields? I've never felt disadvantaged but that's why I ask when and where have you felt it

It's an internship offered through a charity which specialises in providing training roles to people from ethnic minorities. It's not like it is a job role that has been closed off to white people: it is an internship specifically created for non-white people, no white people are missing out on anything because of it.

There are plenty of internships at the BBC available for anyone and whites have a much higher chance of getting into those on average than non-whites, so this is just balancing things out, not putting anybody at a disadvantage.
what did you expect? this is the way our country is going :/

Why have you started a whole new thread on this when theres already been one running for several days. Its not the BBC advertising its an initiative by a charity called creative access who are sponsoring some apprenticships/internships for under represented ethnic minorities to try and get into creative industries.

They are allowed to take this under the positive action provisions in s159 and s160 of the Equalities Act 2010. Such a misrepresentation of what the story is.

East London. And in service and entry level jobs such as a private tutor.
